Ratings & Reviews

JBL has a reputation. From the studio, to concert, business establishments (this includes churches) and the home. They have been in the music industry for a few decades now. This review is not about how good the speaker is as a standalone sound source. Rather, this is about the speaker's ability to produce "True Wireless Stereo" or stereo sound. As a standalone and in party mode, the speaker produces a mono sound image (localized music), in that each speaker play the exact same sound. This (mono) is great for parties, gatherings, etc. TWS require that You have two speakers, and I suggest identical. So, with two (2) Charge 5s, the listener will create a balanced stereo image. Separate the speakers between 4 and 6 feet at a minimum, and at the same height if possible. In stereo mode, there are two channels, a left and right. Each channel, in this case, each C5 will produce different sounds (different instruments in most cases) that blend together to create a more vibrant sound stage. Less volume is needed for sure. The music that You play will sound more realistic, vibrant and easily fill a room. I have two of these setting on My computer desk. I don't need a lot of volume and the music sounds a lot better. The mids are fuller, richer, the bass is tight, punchy and adequate, no matter the genre of music. The ONLY music that I absolutely WILL NOT listen to is elevator music or the music You get when a bank or business places You hold! These speakers were NOT designed to shake the room, but but if You live perhaps in an apartment, at the right volume, I'm sure You will get a door knock or two! When I'm on the go, I'll take one. If I'm going to visit someone out of town, I'm taking both (options.) At home, I listen to both. Pairing two of any of JBL's wireless speakers is relatively easy and straight forward. I would recommend these to anyone, especially when they're on sale. The deeper the discount, the better sounding the music!!! Seriously!

Whether I'm listening to my favorite tunes or watching a movie, the speaker delivers an immersive audio experience that enhances every moment. It's like having a mini-concert in the comfort of my own home. The battery life of this speaker is exceptional as well. It lasts for hours on a single charge, allowing me to enjoy uninterrupted music playback or use it throughout the day without worrying about running out of power. Additionally, the speaker charges quickly, so I never have to wait long before it's ready to go. What sets the JBL Speaker apart from others on the market is its sleek and compact design. It's incredibly portable, making it easy to take with me wherever I go. Whether I'm having a picnic in the park or hosting a small gathering at home, the JBL Speaker effortlessly fits into any setting. The build quality is excellent, with a durable construction that feels solid and reliable. The speaker also offers convenient connectivity options. It seamlessly pairs with my devices via Bluetooth, allowing me to enjoy wireless playback from my smartphone or tablet. The connection is stable, and I haven't experienced any dropouts or lag during usage. Another feature worth mentioning is the built-in microphone. It allows me to make hands-free calls effortlessly, with clear and crisp voice quality. This is especially useful when I'm multitasking or need to take a call on the go. Lastly, the user-friendly controls on the speaker make it a breeze to navigate and adjust settings. The buttons are well-placed and responsive, ensuring a hassle-free experience. This speaker gets surprisingly loud. It’s definitely the loudest speaker I have that’s this size. I was pleasantly surprised when I cranked it up to max. It’s doesn’t get distorted at max volume either. Since we are on the topic of volume, from 4 feet away I’m getting an average of 82dB(A) maxing at around 91dB(A) and an average of 89dB(C) maxing out at around 105dB(C). It’s extremely loud. The bass starts to fall off at 80% though. But as I said 80% is way too loud for any form of communication around this speaker. At 20% it’s already overshadowing friend’s, coworker’s or family’s communications if it’s right next to you. They frequency response is also very good. The tweeter and woofer work very well with each other. Super flat response across the spectrum. This has already become my favorite small/medium speaker. If you’re listening to a podcast or music it’s not a screechy or muddy mess. I’ve steered away from JBL for many years, only electing to buy their partybox in the past. I assumed all their speakers were built and tuned like the partybox 100. I was very happy to hear the clear mids and highs. The bass is just right. I give the Charge 5 a solid rating.
