I liked my last JBL speaker so well that when it began to have shorter playing times between charges after several years, I decided to get another. The new design is nice enough, tho I liked the control buttons better on my original ones (indented). I gave my old one to my husband who listens stationary, therefore can keep plugged in. I use mine while doing yard work, gardening, and housework listening to audiobooks. I don’t know if this will reach 10 hours of listening time before it needs a charge, but I’ve used it several times on my first charge and it’s still going. It has great sound and volume and I like that it has sound on front and back. I bought the matching case to go with as other reviewers said it would shut off if bumped. Since I’m usually working, I wanted to avoid that obnoxiousness. The cover keeps the power button recessed so I don’t think it’ll turn off on me as it would take a lot to push it in

This speaker is the best for taking on my walks. I started with the JBL charge 4 for work. Was small yet nice speaker for table or shelf. The quality so so great I bought the JBL 300 for my house. Both units work fantastic hold a charge as described. Yet both are too big to take on walks. So my wife bought me the Clip. Great speaker for the size. Clips on belt loop for while I am walking, loud enough for me to hear well on a busy street. Holds charge for 10 hours so I can use it multiple times without a charge. If you want a small portable speaker to carry around with you this is the one for you.

The vast majority of the reviews I read before buying this led me to believe that the sound quality was so similar to the Clip 3 that it wasn't worth upgrading. My Clip 3 has been a great speaker—I'll probably keep finding uses for it until it won't hold a charge anymore, hopefully not anytime soon—but honestly...I really wanted to upgrade because it's one of the last devices I own with a Micro USB connector for charging. Anyways, the Clip 4 has turned out to be a noticeably better speaker. Reading over JBL's own writings about the Clip 3 and 4, it seems like version 4 incorporates a passive radiator (like their larger portable speakers), which explains the much improved bass and low-midrange clarity. It won't fool anyone at high volumes, but for low volume playback in a quiet space—which is what I always used my Clip 3 for anyways—it does manage to sound a bit larger than its size suggests it should. My Clip 3 is a noisy speaker; with no audio playing, there's always some low-level hissing that's clearly audible if it's close enough to the ear. It also seems to impart a barely perceptible crunchy distortion onto everything I play through it. The Clip 4, on the other hand, is dead silent when nothing is playing, and doesn't have that gritty veil of distortion over the upper-mids and treble frequencies; possibly a side effect of the 3.5mm TRS input being removed. The titular clip on version 4 has a slightly wider opening, and the larger space inside the clip makes it easier to maneuver onto some things I couldn't get the Clip 3's carabiner over. At the narrowest point, the Clip 4's opening measures about 5/8" wide, only slightly larger than the Clip 3's 9/16" opening. Now for the downsides: The Clip 4's power and pairing buttons are much easier to press (i.e., accidentally) than the recessed buttons on the side of the Clip 3. Not a huge issue if it's sitting or hanging somewhere solid and stationary, but I could imagine that it might turn itself on/off or go into pairing mode if it's swinging around on a backpack or something. I put mine into pairing mode by mistake twice while handling it to measure the carabiner opening. Of course, I have to mention the loss of the analog input. I admit that I rarely ever use(d) it on the Clip 3, but it was indispensable when I needed it in a pinch. The USB Type-C port does not have a dust cover; another omission from the Clip 3's design. I never cared for it, but it's worth mentioning if you use yours in dusty or wet environments. Maybe not a huge issue, since the Clip 4 carries an IP67 rating. Finally, the carabiner clip just doesn't feel as sturdy. Version 4 appears to use some kind of plastic hinge, where the Clip 3's was made of anodized aluminum like the rest of the hook. It may well hold up for years just like the previous version, but only time will tell. Overall, The Clip 4 is a respectable step-up in sound quality, with a few odd design changes from version 3 that may or may not make it less reliable, depending on how you intend to use it. For my use case—quietly listening to music and podcasts in bed, or during power outages when I can't use my hi-fi—it fits the bill perfectly so far. Oh, and one last thing: this "Grey" color scheme is properly weird. The aluminum parts are a kind of golden orange, the plastic clip and button accents are what I can only describe as "puce," and the JBL logo is some kind of desaturated teal color. It looks so strange that it's almost bad, but I love it.

The JBL Clip 4 is now my favorite bluetooth speaker! Beats everything else that I own. The sound quality is excellent. I travel with it, and it’s especially nice for family vacations, because it’s easy to pack and share. The clip is cute and handy, although I generally just place the speaker on a table top. It seems to hold a charge for a very long time, but I have yet to quantify that.

This mini waterproof speaker is exactly what we were looking for. Great selection of color options, as well as compatible accessories (also purchased a matching silicone protective case). It is sturdy, has long battery life, and the audio output - especially for its compact size - is exceptional. The carabiner feature makes it so easy to securely attach to shower bars, backpack straps, etc. Highly, highly recommend!

I don't write many reviews on here, but I had to for this little fella. Just outstanding for the price. I hangs in the shower and gets daily use. Sound quality is great, not too much bass to muffle the sound in the bathroom (all tile so lots of echo). Battery life is just nuts. I use it daily for ~10-15 mins at a decent volume and charge it less than once a month. I have also used it on some outdoor adventures and it holds up really well and is very light. Couldn't be happier, highly recommend!

The speaker has great sound for its size. If give it 5 stars except: 1. The clip needs a way to lock it. If it gets bumped the right way it’ll pop off whatever you have it clipped to. 2. No way to check battery level during charge or . This is by and far the worst of my gripes. They could have added multiple LEDs to indicate charge level and/or send the battery level info over bluetooth to the phone 3. USB-C charging port needs a plug to keep it sand/water/mud etc… 4. The power button is placed right where you naturally grip the speaker. It only takes a tap and the speaker powers on/off. Power button should be on top near the clip to prevent accidentally pressing. Additionally, the power button should require a long press to activate. 5. Not critical, but this speaker doesn’t have a mic, so you can’t use it for phone calls, Zoom, etc

The sound is amazing! & the battery life is insane. I purchased this for my vacations this year. It’s July & I have yet to charge it I purchased this in March & went on more than 4 trips. Also it’s a perk that’s it’s sooo cute.
